The Three Best No-Fail Paint Colors and Where to Use Them

Are you looking to add a little color and personality to your home with paint but want something calming and nearly neutral? These three colors from Benjamin Moore are my favorite go-to colors to try first. They all reflect colors found in nature so they make a beautiful backdrop for many other accent colors!

Revere Pewter HC-172

Revere Pewter is the darling of the staging world. Not really a true gray but not really beige either, it is a warm neutral that gives a fresh look to walls and a real color against a white trim (for the best white trim colors, check out THIS post). This beautiful neutral works in so many rooms - bedrooms, living rooms, kitchens, and bathrooms for an airy look paired with other neutrals and white, a soft look with blush or spa colors, a sophisticated and elegant look paired with black or rich wood tones, and a tailored look look paired with classic navies and reds.

Constellation AF-540

Constellation is a light complex blue that is perfect if you want a soft sky blue. It edges ever so slightly toward a warmer/greener blue than a periwinkle/lavender blue, and it will never have that aggressive-nursery-blue vibe that you were {probably} trying to avoid! It is another very versatile color for both public and private spaces and it is one that evokes water and sky.

Limesicle 2145-50

This is my absolute favorite of the pale greens. Again, a complex shade closer to the warmer/yellowy side of the green spectrum than the sage/bluer side. And green is nature’s ultimate neutral! This shade works well with a mix of garden colors, rich warm wood tones, and other shades of green and blue! It is the color we are using in our One Room Challenge bedroom makeover “The Diva’s Vintage Glamour Den” which will have a sort of English garden meets Victorian elegance aesthetic! (You can read all about the 8 week makeover beginning HERE)

If you are staging a home for sale or looking for a soft, relaxing color palette to flow throughout the main areas of your home, these 3 colors work really well together. They are all complex colors and so lack the intensity of purer hues making them soft and easy to live with as well as a perfect foil for nearly any accent colors.

As always, check your colors in your space to make sure they work well with any fixed finishes or other elements.
