Artist Spotlight: Jill Seale

I met Jill Seale at Highpoint Market this fall.  Not only is she a lovely, warm person, she is a remarkably talented artist as well.  She is a designer and author and has created the highly acclaimed lifestyle brand: Jill Seale Design Studio.

Jill left a highly successful career as a graphic designer and branding expert with an A-list client roster to follow her passion for the magic of marbleizing, an art form she has always been drawn to.  Now, instead of helping others tell their brand story, she tells her own.  And her art is as lively and joyous as she is!

She has had many collaborations with brands and is currently working on one with with Company C rugs, but her most recognizable and captivating art incorporates the exquisite marbling techniques she learned from a master in Florence, Italy.

Jill loves the process of marbleizing and the artistry of it - it is both relaxing and exciting, familiar, yet new and different every time.

I too LOVE all things marbleized, so I was mesmerized by this stunning collection.  There is just something so refined and yet still uncontrived about the art of marbleizing.  Jill’s work is a study in artistry both for the variety of patterns and for the unique and striking color combinations inspired by her travels, nature, and her artists eye for finding beauty in the everyday.

Her colorful hand-created marble designs are available on fabric yardage, wallcovering, pillows, and accessories at Jill Seale where they are grouped in neutral, coastal and color story categories.

The fabrics are 54” wide and sold by the yard and are printed in North Carolina on your choice of cotton/linen, poly velvet, cotton sateen, or poly linen outdoor base material, so the sky is the limit for applications from pillows to drapery, or lampshades, or even upholstery.  She sells a line of ready made pillows in her designs as well, which are available in a variety of sizes and shapes and edge details.

Here she is at the Red Egg showroom at Highpoint wearing one of her own creations! Behind her is a wall displaying wall covering and fabric samples.

Wall coverings are an obvious application for marbleized paper and are available in prepasted, self sticking, or even on grasscloth by special order.

Any of her patterns can be hand decoupaged onto charger plates, or fashioned into napkins

A set of 8 different patterns is sold printed on elegant stationary.  She has created fabrics for the fashion runway and odds and ends from jewelry to scarves and masks as the muse strikes.

Available directly from her website or through designers, Jill offers accessible functional art that elevates the everyday - or in her words, “uplifts and adds a dash of sparkle”!
