Farmhouse Guest Bathrooms Reveal

Today we are sharing two more of the bathrooms from the New England antique farmhouse project.

Teal Guest Bath

This first floor guest bath serves two guest rooms at the front of the guest house on the property.

This bath is one that includes the original shower and tile (see this post) which we were working around as well as a laundry alcove.

We offered a couple of directions for the finishes which you can see here with the before pictures, but we landed on this one with this beautiful rustic teal subway tile, and the leafy wallpaper to tie it all together.

It is now a vibrant, sunny space and the white vanity stands out against the tiled feature wall.

Black Guest Bath

The second floor guest bath was carved out of an awkward space under the eaves and serves a bedroom and bunk room on this level.

Because this would likely be used, at least some of the time, for visiting children, it needed to include a bathtub.

The shower tile is a hand made white subway, and the floor is the same classic black and white basketweave we used downstairs. A black pipe serves as a clever shower curtain rod.

The story board for this bath can be seen here (along with progress pics for several other rooms including the teal bath above).

We specified a tall beadboard wainscoting to be painted in a glossy black, along with all the millwork in this room.

The top rail of the wainscoting is a simple flat stock to mimic the door and window frames. This serendipitously allows it to accommodate hooks for towels as well.

Black appears again on the light fixtures and cabinet hardware. The black sconces with artistically frosted shades flank a pivoting oval mirror.

Chrome timeless style faucets and shower fittings have simple lines appropriate to the house.

The natural maple vanity and stained window blinds along with an antique chair add some warmth.

The sconces and blinds were reselected because the original choices weren’t going to be available in time for the deadline of guests arriving.

Framed artwork done by a family member is a personal touch that adds charm.

The bathrooms were completed just in time for a deluge of guests at this farmhouse guest house for a beautiful family wedding!

Stay tuned for more rooms from this project!  We have a pantry and another bathroom ready for their reveal, and we’ll be photographing a bedroom and some of the living spaces in the coming months as the finishing touches come together.
