Wallpaper is BACK and better than ever! In addition to foyers and dining rooms, an emerging popular place to use wallpaper is in bathrooms.
I was honored to have my work shown and be quoted in an Architectural Digest article on bathroom trends. And I believe wallpaper is a big one!
Nothing adds drama and personality faster than wallpaper. And in a bathroom, where there is very little opportunity for textiles (I mean I HOPE no-one is upholstering the throne…), wallpaper is a terrific way to add pattern.
We’ve used wallpaper to enliven powder rooms for years, but here are a few of the completed bathroom projects with stunning wallpapers (click on highlighted text for more pictures and info)
These two powder rooms in side-by-side twin antique farmhouses are recent favorites. The navy one is the one that was in the aforementioned article.

And here is a peek at the stunning black and white primary bathroom created from two cramped and lackluster baths. It features two different wallpapers - a birch tree pattern, evoking the landscape, and a curated leaf pattern paper for the WC alcove.
This third powder room in the twin antique farmhouses got a makeover with bright blue paint and colorful wallpaper.
In the teal guest bath, eucalyptus print wallpaper pairs with a teal tile accent wall.
All told we have done 7 baths in this set of houses and 5 of them have wallpaper!
We also used wallpaper paired with cobalt tile and white marble to stunning effect in this charming basement guest bath.

And this classic, elegant powder room makeover with the tree branch wallpaper, new millwork, and a champagne metallic ceiling is a perennial favorite.
This powder room makeover included graphic black and white paper that has dramatic impact and provides a perfect backdrop for this talented client’s black and white photography.

These two bathrooms from a recent modern beach house project, were both treated to wallpaper. The primary bath features a sophisticated sea motif pattern on a striking navy background, and the guest bath was treated to a playful overcalled turquoise paper.
And finally here is another dramatic wallpapered tiny powder room transformation - this in another antique home of a long-time client. Millwork painted a glossy black and blossom branches in white on black wrap the room in elegant style.
Bathroom upgrades are one of the best investments you can make in your home and wallpaper is a great way to get a whole lot of style in a small space!
I’m in the early stages of planning some upgrades to my own bathroom, and a pretty robins egg blue wallpaper is on my wish list for it.
