Annnnnd the color of the year announcements for 2027 continue with Sherwin Williams. They announced earlier this month that their pick for Color of the Year for 2027 is…Celery.
Another greenish nature color. While Behr chose a dark greenish grey shade called grounded, Sherwin Williams has selected a lighter yellowish green named after a vegetable. Their description?
“Clarity and comfort unite in our 2027 Color of the Year,
Celery SW 6421, an airy, herbal green that embodies fresh
perspectives and elegance.”
Who writes these things? Anyway. It IS a nice color and it certainly could be elegant. And while it is not exactly the color of any celery I have ever seen, it is a nice color plucked from the nature palette of greens.
It is very similar to one of my favorite foolproof greens from Benjamin Moore: Limesicle. It is just slightly yellower than Limesicle, but similarly versatile.

Imagine Celery as a bedroom wall color for a calm, soothing, nature-inspired personal retreat.
Or imagine it as a bathroom cabinetry and millwork color paired with toile wallpaper for a sophisticated bathroom.
Or imagine a fresh traditional dining room wrapped in this natures neutral color. It pairs well with stained wood furniture and gold toned accents, and is a perfect foil for botanical prints.
Sherwin Williams Celery Paint with Fabric Pairings
Again, green is nature’s neutral, so it works with an almost infinite variety of other colors including a variety of other shades of green.
The following fabrics and trims are all from Stout Fabrics and shown against a paint backdrop of Celery. Each set of selections has a main pattern with supporting coordinates and trim.
This gorgeous embroidered Jacobean floral is shown with a classic boxed plaid, an embroidered trellis fabric, and a stunning embroidered tape trim.
The subtle classics here include a William Morris Acorn patterned fabric paired with a small stripe, slub textured solid, and a multi-green braid trim.
This embroidered floral vine is paired with a ticking stripe, a textured solid, and a basketweave tape trim.
This Jacobean floral print is paired with a multicolor plaid, a solid chenille, and a multicolor brush fringe.

I always gravitate to blues and greens and so I really like this versatile and calming choice for Sherwin Williams color of the year. Benjamin Moore will announce their COTY for 2027 next month - do you predict they will choose something in the green family too?
